Kaity

Hiya, I'm Leo and Spring's human treat dispenser.  I've been riding off and on since the age of 5, and made the incredibly fiscally irresponsible wonderful life decision to purchase my first horse in May of 2016.  Leo came home at the end of June 2016, and this blog was started to document our adventures together. Leo was retired in June of 2017, and after a whirlwind of a week in July of 2017, Spring joined the family.

A bit about me - I grew up in Indiana and started riding when I was 5 years old.  I was pretty consistently riding as a child, but in high school my parents lost their enthusiasm for my horse habit, and I took some time off.  I regained my footing in college, and was able to show IHSA at each of the three schools that I attended (I transferred twice).  I was the student founder of the IHSA huntseat team at my third and final college, which was pretty legit.  I then moved to Missouri to get a life, aka  sell my soul start grad school, and riding once again went to the back burner.  In October of 2015, I took a fellow grad student up on the offer of taking a lesson at a local h/j/eventing barn, and the passion returned with a vengeance!

Many horse shows have been attended in the last year.
I started riding regularly, then working part-time at the barn to help pay for lessons, then working significantly more hours to pay for a half lease on a somewhat psychopathic highly spirited OTTB mare.  As her health began to decline, I started to explore my options and decided that rather than leasing, I wanted to buy. (During this time, I also underwent a serious career change and got a Big Kid Job) Leo was purchased in June of 2016 as an eventing prospect, and was officially retired in June of 2017 due to a treatment-resistant bone cyst. We attended one show during our time together.

Spring came along purely by chance shortly after Leo was retired. She is a darling little mare, and hopefully the future holds many adventures for us.

Thanks for stopping by!
