Leo

Leo
Breed: American Saddlebred
Age: 10
Show name: Allons-y

Registered name: Doctor Jim Bob

Leo is the first horse that I have ever owned.  Purchased in June of 2016, he comes from a very non-eventing background.  He spent the first two years of his life being a saddlebred named Blaze (video proof can be found here), which he wasn't very great at - he sold to a trail-riding home at the age of 2.  For 8 years, he enjoyed the quiet life as a trail riding buddy called Splash.  My trainer found him for sale on Facebook on a Thursday, I drove 3 hours to see him on a Sunday, liked him well enough to make an offer, and he came home on a Tuesday.  Longer details about this process can be found here.

While he may not be what I was expecting, I've quickly fallen in love with this goofy, ridiculous monster.  He has pizzazz.

In the spring of 2017, Leo came up lame. It was the mystery lameness that everyone dreads, and after 2 months of treating everything under the sun to no avail, he was taken to the local University vet hospital and underwent a Digital Lameness Locator exam.  A bone cyst was found in the cannon bone of the front right leg. It is inoperable, and injections failed to correct it.

Leo began pasture rest in July of 2017, and was moved home. In January of 2018, he came back into work, and in March of 2018 we began the search for his new home - somewhere for him to get back to the working lifestyle!
