Two Down

Consumer Reviews: Bit of Britain, Haltertags.com, Dover Saddlery

Just in time for the first freezing (sub-twenty) night of the year, Bit of Britain came through, and my blanket was delivered! And it fits! Pretty sure Weatherbeeta runs big, since Leo measured at a 72 and this is...a 69. I'm still a little annoyed that I paid ten bucks for shipping on an item that took 11 days to get here (was advertised as 5 days), but they were at least responsive to my inquiries and provided me with an order confirmation email (although not with a tracking number as they didn't actually ship it, Weatherbeeta did).  Would consider ordering from them again, just not during the holiday season.

Haltertags.com replied to my email inquiry within several hours, and promised to ship my tag out the next day - and are including a freebie for the month long wait. So not even a little miffed at them - they're a small company, and they remedied the issue immediately. Although it's not here yet (it shipped today, confirmed via email), I will definitely order from them again, if I ever need any of the things that they make.

Dover...well, they've finally charged my account for the saddle. They say it's shipped, but I never received an email confirmation of this, despite being promised multiple times that one would be sent, and the tracking number that they provided over the phone doesn't work. But allegedly the saddle will be here tomorrow (one week late). So I guess we'll see. I'm going to really miss my daily phonecalls to their customer service people. I do not plan to ever order from Dover again; they are too big of a company to have this shoddy of an online ordering system, or to use Black Friday as an excuse. It's not like the Thanksgiving weekend rush is a new thing that just started in 2016, and in my opinion, a company like Dover should be more than prepared to handle the influx of orders during that time. Plus, from what I've read, online customers often find themselves in situations like mine, regardless of what time of year it is. I can order a pizza online from a locally owned pizza company and receive a confirmation email within 2 minutes, but Dover can't manage that in a week and a half. Something about that doesn't sit right with me.

  1. The Dover one I totally understand. Ugh. I've never once had a good experience ordering online from Dover although I know many people who have!

    1. Right? Headed out to the barn soon to see if it survived the night, I'm not sure that he's ever been blanketed before.

  3. The only time I ever ordered from Dover they sent me the wrong item...two weeks late. Then, when I called to have it fixed, they said that the item I had actually ordered was out of stock. So I just canceled the whole thing and ordered from somewhere else. It's ridiculous.

    1. If they ended up sending me the wrong saddle but it's like, a CWD, or something, I won't be upset. :P it seriously, at this point if I end up with a child's saddle I won't be surprised.

    1. Thanks! Hopefully at some point I'll get slightly better pictures, he wouldn't stand still!
I had some trepidation...but it was such a good deal...still not sure that it was worth it, we'll see what the saddle is like. If it ever gets here.
