Still Here

Hello, world!

I am still here.

As I mentioned in this post, I've been quite busy lately with filling in for the Barn Manager.  Because of this, I haven't had a whole lot of free time; when I'm not at the barn I'm either sleeping or at my 'real' job, or trying to spend as much time as possible with B and the dogs.  My brain has been too chaotic to organize into a coherent post.

Still loving the new saddle.
I've had some frustrating Leo rides and some fantastic Leo rides.  Trainer K and I have discussed Leo going back into part-time training until my schedule starts to resemble something involving having a life, because right now I don't have a whole lot of extra time on my hands.  Currently, group lessons have become unproductive, so we've been trying to make time for weekly private lessons with decent success.

I've ridden some pretty cool horses in group lessons, including two mini-warmbloods (my term for the dutch cross resale projects currently at the barn, both of whom are tiny).  I had video for both, but somehow only the video of Annie from last week survives. :(

small but mighty.  She matches Leo.
I had a fantastic Christmas in Indiana with my family - need to get photos taken for a Christmas-themed post this weekend!  Leo has gotten a full week off as a result of my travels, which I think will end up being good for his brain; he actually hasn't had any considerable amount of time off since I bought him.  We're starting back up tomorrow.

Leo's mane has grown out some, and now looks like the above photo all of the time, every day.

Despite being insanely busy and relatively stressed out, having this past week off has helped settle my life.  I sincerely think that things will continue to improve in the weeks to come, and hopefully I will get back to more regular posting!  (Seriously, the week before last would have been like this: worked at the barn from 9-6.  Didn't have time to ride.  Worked an overnight from 7 pm to 5 am.  Repeat.  Managed two lessons in one day, barely.  The end.)

Hope that all of you had an excellent holiday!  Did you receive anything particularly awesome?

  1. That is a brutal schedule! I hope you got some downtime to catch up on sleep over the holiday.
