Coming Home

Hello, hello, hello!

I have been back from Canada for about a week now. The trip was incredible - I definitely wasn't ready to leave, despite the lack of horses.  I didn't realize how ridiculously stressed out and tense I had been from Leo's injury, but you guys, I was so, so, so stressed. Canada was a breath of fresh air (literally and figuratively), and I have been striving to maintain the peacefulness that I found while there since my return.

I know that some of you may judge me for this, but I haven't brought Leo in once since my return. For one thing, I've been incredibly busy catching up on life, and for another he really is completely fine in the pasture; he gets checked twice a day, and I've said hi to him...but I haven't brought him in to check for soundness or play obstacle course or groom. I think that some of this is because in my head, I have built up this scenario where I bring him in after leaving him completely alone for a few weeks and he's magically sound...which I know is very unlikely, but I also know that when I throw him on the lunge and see that he's still lame, part of me is going to be pretty disappointed.

He's no longer at any risk of infection, and tomorrow I do need to check him for soundness - Wednesday is our big vet appointment at the University. I'm so afraid of what the next 48 hours will bring.

Reality is not great right now, but I have been riding some pretty neat horses in my lessons, and making some significant progress. More on that later, though. I hope you all have had a great couple of weeks!
