How many things can change in a year?

Things that have stayed the same:

Spring is living her best life at her retirement pasture in Missouri. She is queen of her little herd, her weight is great, and her leg looks pretty darn good most of the time.

Things that have changed:

I graduated from nursing school! Yay! And got my first RN job at my dream hospital...

Which is in Michigan, so in late August B and I said goodbye to Missouri and moved 600 miles northeast.

In late September, completely by surprise, we found out that we were about to undergo another major life change...

Our baby girl is due Friday, but due to preeclampsia concerns I am going to be induced on Thursday. It's completely insane and we are scrambling to get everything ready because...

We've been trying to get back to a more rural lifestyle since we moved, and about a month and a half ago stumbled across an ideal situation - rent and board for one horse in exchange for being the caretakers of a small equestrian estate. My work commute has doubled, but we're surrounded by conservation areas and B was able to quit his part-time job to work on the farm. This will allow us to not need childcare once I go back to work!

Which brings us to Marcus. Marcus is Trainer K's horse. I fell in love with him last summer, but the timing hasn't been right for me to take on a second horse. Marcus is fancy enough for me to play with and sane enough for B to hop on. He's an 8-year-old arabian gelding, and has the most adorable dolphin face of all time. After some long conversations with Trainer K, B, B's and my new landlady/boss, and Barn Friend R (who boards Spring) we decided that the best horse choice would be to move Marcus to Michigan now, and hopefully bring Spring up in another year or so. So, with my impeccable sense of timing, Marcus arrived today!

He is spending this week at the boarding barn that I've been riding/working at (finding a barn after moving deserves its own dedicated post, omg. I didn't realize how lucky I was to click with Trainer K on the first try), and then he will move up to the farm! He hauled up here like a champ and settled in like a complete pro.

The last ride pre-baby's arrival (with approval from my provider) - 38 weeks pregnant on new Trainer S's absolute saint of an OTTB, Lenny
I think that captures all the highlights since my last post. Except that B and I got engaged during the whirlwind of the last 9 months, which is exciting but also wedding planning has not been at the forefront of our minds - we don't even have a date yet. We are going 900 miles per hour, but we are so happy and so excited about what the future holds!
