Just Spring Things
Spring moved to a retirement pasture to live with my old friend Nigel in mid December.
Nigel was beyond thrilled with his new best friend. Spring, in true red mare fashion, was less than impressed.
Peep Nigel strutting his stuff whilst Spring ignores him completely - they've become pals, though.
They're about 40 minutes away and with the holidays I haven't gotten to visit as much as I'd like, but all reports are positive. Her leg wound has completely closed, and although her fetlock remains tragically low she gets around just fine and seems blissfully happy with her retirement life.
I'm hoping that in time she will be deemed broodmare sound as her leg slowly continues to heal. She's such a fantastic horse, and I would love for her to have a future beyond pasture puff. Plus her bloodlines are 😍.
Hope all is well with all of you!

I have been wondering how she’s been doing. This sounds like a perfect solution for you, Spring and Nigel.
ReplyDeleteGlad she's continuing to do well 😊
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear things haven't gone the way you wanted, but I commend you for finding Spring a safe place and still enjoying her <3 It's hard when we have to retire them, esp so young. I'm glad she's doing well in her new digs :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry that she wasn't going to be sound - :( I'm glad that she could make it safely and happily into retirement
